In a run-up to the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2019, the Prayagraj Mela Pradhikaran has launched the Swachh Kumbh Champ Campaign on the Global Handwashing Day, October 15th, 2018. The Campaign aims to mobilise people to come out and get directly involved with cleanliness efforts in their day-to-day life and in their immediate surrounding. The Campaign will run from October 15, 2018 till March 4, 2019.

So, let us join hands, put our thinking caps on and demonstrate our commitment to a SWACHH KUMBH and SWACHH BHARAT. The purpose of the campaign is to identify Swachhta Champions from amongst citizens/organisations/institutions, based on their activity, approach, or methodology. Participants need to undertake at least one activity under any of the 10 categories given below, and document it. The documentation should include pre-activity and post-activity status, and should be documented in the form of a 100 word writeup and two photographs and mailed to

  • Innovative and engaging way of garbage hot-spot beautification through wall painting, plantation etc.
  • Successfully implementing waste segregation at household/community level
  • Converting waste to manure at household/community level
  • Re-using waste to make items of use, decoration etc eg- paper bag, cloth bag
  • Promoting cleanliness and hygiene through engaging way in schools and communities eg- promotion of hand-wash, awareness regarding use of toilets etc.
  • Involved in cleaning-up of Public spots, tourist spots, railway and bus stops and statues etc.
  • Involved in Ghat cleaning and eco-conservation of Ganges
  • Involved in the upliftment of the plight of Sanitation workers
  • Involved in creating awareness on the subject of cleanliness by organising events
  • Other activities that make a difference in the life of people through practice of cleanliness

‘Swachh Kumbh’ Logo: Call for design

Prayagraj Mela Authority is calling for entries for a logo for its Swachh Kumbh campaign during Kumbh Mela 2019.

Recognised by UNESCO in the “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” list, the Kumbh Mela is the world’s largest gathering of pilgrims and travellers with an estimated 120 million visitors. ‘Swachh Kumbh’ is the sanitation campaign during Kumbh Mela 2019 which will set a benchmark in provision of clean and hygienic environment to the visitors for a memorable experience. The Prayagraj Mela Authority aims at providing sanitation services in form of covering solid waste collection and disposal and provision of adequate toilet facilities. The Swachh Kumbh campaign embodies the twin messages of ‘cleanliness is godliness’ and national commitment for Swachhta and Clean Ganga.

The CALL FOR LOGO is an invitation to all young creative minds of the country to contribute and be a part of the mega cause of Kumbh. The Logo will talk about the significance of cleanliness before and during the Kumbh Mela 2019. The Sanitation activities planned to be rolled out this year include installation of more than 1.2 Lakh toilets with proper disposal of waste, deployment of more than 15000 Manpower to keep the streets and Mela area clean and installation of over 20000 dustbins for collecting solid waste.

The following are the guideline specs for the design:

  • The LOGO chosen by the Authority shall be further be used by the authority and the authority will hold the rights on it once the selection is over and result is announced.
  • The Authority may keep the rights to do further modification of the LOGO with prior information to the designer.
  • The LOGO cannot be used by the designer for any commercial purpose once it’s submitted to the Authority.
  • The submission of the Logo has be either in JPEG or PNG format and to be mailed at latest by 7th October, 1800 Hours.
  • The Authority shall acknowledge the designer with Certificate and special mention in the Social Media handle i.e Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and in the official website.
